India and Pakistan, two arch rivals at least in the cricket field are
currently playing 2nd test match of their cricket series at Kolkata's
Eden Garden, the largest-capacity cricket stadium of the world.
Topic2 : Indian Banks, Mutual Funds
Cricket is a big driving force in the economy of India. Sponsors,
advertisers (from companies of soft drinks like Pepsi and Coca Cola,
apparels, cosmetics and even Banks and other Financial
organizations line up to purchase prime time slot in TV. When a
game is on, the whole India continues to work but all Indians
everywhere keep track of the score and proceedings through TV or
internet. [Next: Indian Movies at Blockbuster, Netflix

In fact, Pepsi and Coca Cola are two big sponsors for the Indian Cricket
world and they pay lumpsum sponsor money to grab players.

Financial Investment in India

India is a major attraction for emerging-market investors. The country's
benchmark BSE Sensex 30 Index hit a record high on Feb 28 as investors
reacted favorably to both the government's proposed budget and corporate
tax cuts.

Among the handful of U.S.-listed Indian stocks, shares of information
technology services provider Infosys Technologies (INFY) and Icici Bank
(IBN) both reached 52-week highs on Feb. 28.

Matthews Asian Pacific Tiger fund (MAPTX) is a very successful Mutual
fund of recent years. Two of its largest positions in India are Infosys (INFY)
and Hdfc Bank (HDB) , which pioneered the country's mortgage business.

Many mutual funds and individual or institutional investors in USA are
quite heavily invested in the Pharmaceuticals company Dr. Reddy's
Laboratory (RDY) , the respectable and very-reliable auto-maker Tata
Motors' (TTM) and another software giant, Wipro (WIT)

India Is Emerging!

Sania represents an India which is vibrant and young and is emerging out
to prove itself to the world . ..

Goldman analysts predict that India will be the world's third-largest economy
in 2050 - behind China and the U.S. Two keys to expansion: a rising middle
class and a rapidly growing population.

With their massive populations, India and China are often compared as
investment choices. But Jeff Tang, emerging market equity analyst at Evergreen
Investments, noted an important difference between the two countries: China is
dependent on its manufacturing base and the global economy; India is more tied
to its domestic economy. "It's very insulated from global dynamics," he added.
It need not depend on the world and can generate revenue by itself.
... Also India is a true and the largest democracy. The media is certainly not in
the control of any dictatorship.

Last but not the least of all: Indians have an urge to prove themselves good
.. to keep a mark on the World. So many divisions in language, religion and
culture could not suppress this nation's inner urge to come out of all miseries
and show and deliver something to the world ...
