Intel India's Processor for the Server Market

'Whitefield' is the name of the road leading to one of Bangalore's tech parks.
That will (probably) be the name of a Xeon chip that Intel India is developing.

Intel engineers in India are currently designing a processor for the server
market and expecting it to come out very soon in the international market.
The development of the server chip is a first for the company. This will be
a next-generation server chip. The company has not released code-names,
but Intel India does have a Xeon chip on its roadmap code-named Whitefield
coming in 2007 that will be able to fit in both Itainum-based and Xeon-based
servers.

Although it's the first processor, it won't be Intel's first Indian chip. A 915
chipset released earlier this year was developed at the Bangalore facilities.
