Sania Ranked 40th

Sania Mirza has dropped three spots to 40th in the latest WTA rankings.

Sania has shown little improvement in her rankings this year, which has not seen her go beyond the third round of any singles competition played so far. Her only major achievement this year has been a doubles title at tier-III Bangalore Open and reaching the doubles finals at the tier-II Bausch and Laumb Championship at Amelia Islands, Florida.

As we reported earlier, she is having fitness problem. We hope she'll be able to recover from it at the earliest and bring the same charm and charisma to the court that we enjoyed watching throughout the last year.

Sania and News

Here is a report on Sania's Fitness problems that is affecting her performance for quite some time now. We hope she would soon get over it and come back with vengeance to the international arena.

Recently there have been too much of buzz in Indian media how other woman tennis players in the country are not getting as much support as Sania Mirza has been able to get to make an impact at the international level.

Come on Girls! Whatever Sania could get was by fighting hard and showing her potential in international arena. Only after that she got into limelight and now enjoys the constant attention that is falling on her from a mass of people ranging from young girls of Gaziabad to President Bush. Whatever she is getting, she deserves every inch of that. The simple rule of life is: you need to earn the favor you get. All successful people are self-made.

Ranked 37th

Her inability to break the singles jinx this year notwithstanding, Sania Mirza has climbed three rungs to finish 37th in the latest WTA rankings issued today. Sania has 516.75 singles ranking points and has also improved her doubles standings, rising five places to be at the 40th spot with 793.50 points.

The improvement in the doubles rankings follows her runner-up finish at the $600,000 Baucsh and Laumb Tennis Championship yesterday. She partnered South African Liezel Huber during the tournament. In Singles, Mirza bowed out following her 6-3 6-4 loss to Lisa Raymond of the US at the hard court event.
