Out of Cincinnati

Sania Mirza and Marta Domashowska of Poland lost 4-6, 6-3, 2-6 to Maria Elena Camerin of Italy and Gisela Dulko of Argentina in today's final match of the USD 175,000 Cincinnati Open tennis tournament.

In saturday's semifinal match Sania Mirza and Marta Domashowska of Poland thrashed Chan Chin-Wei of Taiwan and Tetiana Luzhanska of Ukraine 6-0 6-1 .

On Friday Sania gave a tough fight to top seed Patty Schnyder before going down against the Swiss player in the rain-delayed quarterfinal showdown of the tournament. The 9th seed Indian, who was playing her first quarterfinal of the season, made Schnyder to toil for the 6-7 (7/9), 5-7 victory in the tie which was interrupted twice.

Sania`s feat of reaching finals in the Cincinnati Open resulted in her career-best 31st rank in doubles. She was 33rd last week. But she slipped 2 places to be 42nd in the latest singles rankings announced today.

QuarterFinal@Cincinnati

Sania on Wednesday reached her first quarterfinals of the year at the $175,000 WTA Cincinnati Women's Open by beating Finland's Emma Laine 6-1, 0-6, 6-1.

With this victory Sania improved her record for the year to 9-13. She is seeded 9th and handed a better draw after 3rd-seeded Daniela Hantuchova withdrew injured.

After an early exit at Wimbledon, Sania, the world no 40, will now face top seed and defending champion Patty Schnyder of Switzerland, who defeated Abigail Spears of USA 6-1, 6-0.
