French Open: Sania-Fabrice Duo In 2nd Round
After disappointments in singles and doubles, Sania Mirza bounced back along with Frenchman Fabrice Santoro and trounced American-Czech pair of Vania King(USA) and Frantisek Ceramak 6-2, 6-0 to advance to the pre-quarterfinals of the mixed doubles competition at the French Open at Rolland Garros.Sania and her partner Santoro hardly broke a sweat and won the first set after converting both the breakpoints that came thier way.Sania-Fabrice now take on sixth seeded Serb-Slovenian combine of Nenad Zimonjic and Katarina Srebotnik who overpowered Canadian Daniel Nestor and Russian Elena Likhovtseva 6-2, 5-7, 10-7 in the first round.
On Thursday, Sania and her Czech partner Eva Birnerova lost to the top seeded pair of Lisa Raymond of the US and Australian Samantha Stosur in the first round of the women's doubles of the French Open tennis tournament. The Indo-Czech pair proved no match for the American-Australian duo and went down 6-1, 6-2 on Thursday. Earlier in the day, Sania also crashed out of the singles event as well after she lost 6-1, 6-4 in just 64 minutes to seventh seed Anna Ivanovic of Serbia.
